Chapter 3: Opportunity…

California…

It has been very eventful since the last time I checked in.. Let’s start with the good stuff, I was contacted by a well known trainer to be apart of his NBA Pre- Draft staff for 2 months. It was an amazing offer to travel to California and work with some amazingly talented athletes preparing to perform on the worlds largest basketball platform, seeing the entire process & getting paid to do what I love to do. I would of had to sacrifice missing my sons birthday and spending time with him this summer and I was honestly torn on what to do. Ultimately I did not go because of the business side of things (Players signed with different agencies, ETC). It was still great to be chosen for it and I was able to build a strong relationship with the trainer who reached out to me.

Prep School

So as you know I coach a 16U team on the UA Rise Circuit. Me and the 17U coach & newest member of M.I.L.E. Coach Taul have established a very strong relationship! He is like my brother, he is very well connected in the basketball world and is on pace to be on a NCAA coaching staff this upcoming year. He is currently the Head Assistant Coach at Believe Sports Academy in Rock Hill, SC. He spoke very highly about me at to his Head Coach, Kevin Jackson. Coach Jackson is a legend in New York, he has coached Shamgod, Kenny Anderson, Shaq & many more. To make a long story short after a few conversations he offered me an Assistant Coach/ Head of Player-Development position on his staff and I was beyond ecstatic about it but once again this would put me far away from my son… After a long talk with my circle I was preparing to make that move next season.. but

UHA

During my time in Hopkinsville, KY I was introduced through Melvin Brown, to some very influential people from UHA. I was offered an opportunity to coach their Jr. Pro team. The experience was amazing and we went Undefeated and won the Championship. More importantly each player developed a lot during that season! I along with the two other coaches coached them very hard and demanded a lot from them and the players responded well every time. Upon the season ending I was offered an opportunity to be apart of UHA community & staff in some form. The offer was amazing because I knew a lot of the players and people at that school and would be a nicer check but I was so indecisive about it because I just was offered the prep school job…. but to add on to that…

College ??

A couple months back I hosted a Unsigned Senior / One year Removed Basketball Showcase which would allow players to come compete and show skill set in front of Multiple Coaches who were looking to sign players. The event went well and one of the coaches stayed in contact with me since the showcase. Last week he called me and about potentially being apart of their staff, as the Head JV coach & Assistant coach for Varsity Team, and handling player development. The College is in state and not far from home, would allow me to coach train at a high Level all while paying for me to finish my Degree and continue on to my Masters Degree for free. I’m blessed God has blessed me with these amazing opportunities but I’d be lying if it wasn’t stressful trying to figure out what’s best for me, my family, & the brand.
